Hello! If you're here, you probably have some interest in commissioning me to write software for you, or your organization. Below are a handful of ground rules that I expect to be followed when working with me.
0. Be respectful.
I'm a human being, not a robot. I have feelings, and I expect to be treated with respect. If you can't do that, then I don't want to work with you. Simple as. This is arguably the most important rule.
1. No illegal or harmful software
- I will not write software that functions as viruses, malware, spyware, keyloggers or any other malicious tool, without a damn good reason, and even then, I reserve the right to refuse.
- I will not accept commissions that carry potential legal risks, including those related to how or where the software will be used, or the data it is meant to operate on.
2. Clear project scope & expectations
- The scope and goal of the project must be clearly defined, before development begins. This includes, but is not limited to, the intended functionality, target platform(s), and any specific requirements or constraints.
- Requests with vague or shifting requirements may be declined or may incur additional charges.
3. Payment & licensing
- My standard rate is $22.50/hr, billed based on actual time tracked working on your software. Rates are subject to change depending on complexity, urgency, or special requirements.
- Unless explicitly agreed upon and paid for beforehand, all commissioned work will be open-sourced and published on my GitHub under the MIT license.
- Payment is accepted via CashApp. You will recieve the source code and any necessary documentation and instructions upon full payment. If you'd like to pay in installments or through another method, we can discuss that, but you will not receive the program and related materials until full payment is made.
4. Time & availability
- Understand that this is a side project for me - I have a day job that takes priority to this. I will do my best to keep you updated on progress, but I cannot guarantee immediate responses or rapid turnaround times.
- Response times and delivery may vary depending on my current workload and personal commitments. I will do my best to communicate any delays or issues as soon as possible. Patience is appreciated.
Be aware that, on top of these terms, I reserve the right to deny any commission, for any reason, even if it technically complies with all of the above.
If you agree to these terms, great! The best way to get a hold of me is one of these two ways:
- The absolute quickest response will be on Discord, where you can add me at @i3vie.
- Alternatively, you can email me at [email protected]. I may be slow to check my email, so if you need a quick response, Discord is the way to go.
